Field hockey final Top 10: Crofton shows no complacency in repeating

Crofton field hockey coach Amy Skrickus knew the move from Maryland’s 3A classification to 4A would make things more difficult. But fresh off a state title, complacency was not an option.

“We talked to the girls at the beginning of the season and said, ‘Yes, we won a state championship last year, but that was last year’s team,’ ” Skrickus said in September. “ ‘You don’t get anywhere without working hard this year.’ ”
